How to sell your property in early Spring

It’s the start of the New Year, out with the old and in with the new, time to make a fresh start. People are back to work and the children are back at school. Signs of Spring are beginning to appear in the garden and property hunters are on the lookout for a new home.

Therefore, if you are thinking of selling your property, early Spring is a good time to go to market. Here are a few “Team Wishart Top Tips” to help get your property ready to sell.  We hope you find them helpful.

1. It’s Spring cleaning season! Even if you’re not selling your property, a deep clean makes us all feel better (think Marie Kondo). Making your property sparkle before viewings will spark joy for your viewers. Decluttering will also enable them to see potential for making the space their own.

2. Go for the minimal look, box away any unnecessary items, your house will be much easier to keep on top of for viewings. Get into the habit of leaving things tidy, put things away each day and encourage the rest of the family to help.

3. Now you have put away the Christmas decorations, add a fresh touch with a nice vase of flowers.  A few cushions, throws and fluffy blankets will make the room feel cosy on those cooler days. Finish it all off with some scented candles or a reed diffuser.

4. Make each room as welcoming as possible. Time and again we are told ‘’The house just had a nice feeling, we could imagine ourselves there….’’ Emotions play a huge part when buying a house, first impressions really do count.

5. We can’t always guarantee the sunshine for all our viewings, but we always show your home in its best light. If it’s still cool, putting the fire on creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere.  Never underestimate the importance of lights, lamps and candles.

6. The spring bulbs are just peeping through and the blossom won’t be long, it’s a wonderful time of the year.  Make sure your garden is looking as well as it can for the time of year. Early pansies will add a splash of colour to your tubs and add that all-important kerb appeal.

7. Although it’s still early in the year, we have had some bright sunny days. When possible, make the most of these, throw open the windows, allow the air to circulate through your home, even for a short period of time. Why not wrap up warm and blow the cobwebs away while you tidy the garden? Sweep the paths and ensure the re-cycling is stored neatly.

8. Clean out your gutters and drainpipes. The last thing you or a viewer want to see is a dripping drainpipe or overflowing gutter. Regular maintenance will also help avoid more serious issues developing.
