First Time Buyer advice from Wishart Estate Agents

Are you a first-time buyer wondering how you will ever be able to buy your first home? Don’t panic, I feel exactly the same.

Having recently started out in the property industry the struggles of a first time buyer have resonated with me more than ever.

Here I share some of my research into buying your first home. This is by no means an exhaustive list it’s simply a starting point for anyone like me, considering their first home purchase.

Government schemes for first-time home buyers and existing homeowners:

Several government schemes can help you buy a home. These include Help to Buy, Right to Buy and Shared Ownership.

I found the following website really helpful: https://www.moneyadviceservice.org.uk/en/articles/help-to-buy-homebuy-and-other-housing-schemes#shared-ownership

If you’ve already managed to save a small amount for your deposit the governments help to buy scheme can help first time home buyers get a property with just a 5% deposit.

There’s a lot of information about this here:

If you’re just starting out with your savings, you could also look at the Martins Money Tips website which has enough information to keep you busy all weekend…..which is great since you can’t afford to go to the pub now!
