Selling your home in Autumn

The children are back at school, nights are drawing in, and property hunters are on the lookout after the notoriously quiet month of August. Autumn is a great time of year to sell property in York and Tadcaster and we hope these tips will help.

Cosy is the optimum word for Autumn…and Winter! Take the chill off the air by turning the heating on before viewings, throw some fluffy blankets on your sofa and add candles around the home. If possible, arrange viewings during the day to make the most of the sunlight.

Make viewers feel “at home”. Buying a property is as much about the emotional feeling as it is about ticking off a checklist of property “must haves”. Baking, putting on the fire and a few lamps can have a huge impact on the emotional connection for viewers.

Don’t overlook the garden. Cut the grass, trim trees and hedges and plant some autumnal flowering plants such as dahlias, begonias and cyclamen to brighten up the garden. Kerb appeal is important at all times of the year.
