Wishart Estate Agents: Our clients journey in their words, read their full story

Every home has a story, and every client’s journey is unique. For us, being a trusted estate agent in York & Tadcaster isn’t just about showing properties or negotiating offers,  it’s about understanding people, their lives, and what they need to feel confident and supported while buying or selling their home. I first met Louise at a time of real change in her life, and that experience reminded me why we do what we do at Wisharts: making the often stressful process of buying or selling a home feel human, personal, and even exciting. We're so grateful we attract the type of clients who would take time out of their day to write a review like this.

''I first met Lucie when I was looking for my first property post-divorce and she showed me around a property she was selling. It was a difficult time personally.  I had viewed several properties with other estate agents and Wisharts stood out from the crowd due to their personal approach. Lucie was enthusiastic about the house, honest and full of ideas about what improvements could make it my dream home but most of all was prompt, professional, warm and very knowledgeable.

For various reasons that house was not meant to be mine, but I sent Lucie a thank you note for how much help she had given during that one viewing. I can remember hoping I would be able to deal with Wisharts again.

Fast forward a decade and I was ready to sell the house I had ended up with and Wisharts were to first people I thought of. I knew that the way they handled viewings and potential buyers was exactly what I wanted from someone selling my home.
Lucie came to see me and offered some very pragmatic and helpful advice on a few jobs to tackle before the house went on the market to maximise the chances of a quick sale at the best price. I then had the opportunity to experience Wisharts as a customer not just a buyer of a property they were selling.

Lucie and her team went above and beyond, from checking in the day before the photos knowing I was feeling nervous, to keeping me informed on next steps. After being so happy in that house for a decade, and feeling nervous about going on the market, I appreciated the support with every step.

After the house was launched on Rightmove and social media I was kept informed every step of the way from the incoming enquiries, viewings, feedback after viewings and advice on which of the several offers I had.

Once a sale was agreed, the team at Wisharts kept in touch to keep me informed, about the surveys, legals, timeframes, the whole process. Not only that but they paid interest in the house I was buying, the chain involved, the other estate agents and solicitors, they were essentially project managers!  I could call their office and the whole team could help, they all knew me and my property, it was clear that they cared about their vendors and wanted to do the best to support me.

The sale went smoothly and I cannot thank Lucie and her team enough for the support they gave me.

Fast forward six months and I was heartbroken to admit that the move I had made was not right for lots of personal reasons. I hardly dare admit it to myself, my family and friends. But I knew who I needed to speak to. I called Lucie and expected her to say that it was too difficult to sell a house only six months after I had bought it. What did Lucie say? “We can do it. Leave it to me. We take it one step at a time.” And that’s what we did. It was hard, but I never felt alone. The support, advice, professionalism and care was so rare and so important, I am not sure I could have done it without Lucie.

And again, the team at Wisharts were supportive and pro-active.
Within a few months, a sale was secured and more than that, I had found my ideal home and Lucie helped me secure that property which was over and above what any selling agent needed
to do. She helped guide me on the whole process from initial viewing to offers to co-ordinating completion dates.

For anyone who wants the full package from their selling agent, I cannot recommend Wisharts highly enough. They stood out from the crowd by doing things that seem small and obvious but my experience showed were rare, like :
Honesty with feedback
Showing up on time
Doing what they said they would
Keeping in touch
Understanding that house selling is personal, stressful and a BIG deal
Advice and support
Knowing my situation
Answering queries, no matter how small
Getting to know me and my circumstances
Tackling a hard sale
Answering emails and calls promptly
Pro-actively chasing third parties including surveyors, buyers, estate agents, mortgage advisors - everyone involved !

I’ve been in my new house for over a year now and I’m delighted to say I don’t think I’ll
need an estate agent again for many years, but if do, I know who I will call.   House selling is not “business”, it’s personal, it’s stressful, it’s uncertain, it’s hard but with the right support and team it can be exciting, fun and a success.''
