Moving Stories: From St Stephens to St Helier

It was Alan and Lynn’s daughter Lindsey, who first approached us at the beginning of this success story. She had been scrolling through Facebook when she noticed one of our property posts, which she mentioned to her parents who were struggling to sell their home in York.

With Lindsey now living in Jersey, she was concerned that her parents’ property had only had two, unsuccessful viewings and she was too far away to offer any practical help. The family’s dream of multigenerational living on the idyllic island of Jersey was starting to feel a long way off.

Lindsey asked us to visit her parents’ home to give an honest appraisal of their property and explain how they could get the best possible price, within their required short timeframe.

Following our initial discussion and home staging advice, Alan and Lynn welcomed our professional property photographers, into their home to capture the features of their property.

We accompanied a total of 15 viewings and found a successful buyer who happened to live in rented accommodation, just around the corner!

As you can imagine, a retirement move to Jersey involves a lot of planning and organisation and this sale in particular, required a very quick exchange of contracts, with only a four-week period between exchange and completion. 

Aware of the vendors need to move quickly from day one, we were able to work with all parties involved to ensure this goal was achieved. With thanks to their highly proactive solicitors.

While we always do our best to meet timeframes at Wishart Estate Agents, we also need to remain realistic - some financial and legal matters are simply out of our hands. At no point during this house sale did we ever over promise, something which unfortunately can be an issue within estate agency.

Managing to make their move to Jersey within just weeks of the COVID-19 outbreak and the UK being put into lockdown, we would now like to take this opportunity to wish Alan and Lynn a long and happy retirement.
